How Calvinists Define Total Depravity
Article

Calvinist writers summarize Total Depravity in different ways. Some definitions say little more than that every person is a sinner, guilty before God.

The Meaning of the Bronze Serpent
Article

When Jesus explained the new birth to Nicodemus, He reached for one of the strangest images in the Old Testament: "as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life" (

Parody of a dying man agreeing to be helped as saving himself
Article
A man lay sick and dying on the street, with no hope of saving himself. Just when all seemed lost, an ambulance pulled up, and the paramedics jumped out. “Do you want our help?” they asked. “Yes, please,” the man gasped. Immediately, they lifted him onto a stretcher, gave him oxygen, started an IV, and began tending to him. One medic worked to steady his breathing while another carefully monitored his heart and gave him a series of medicine until his strength began to return. Minutes later, he was stable, breathing freely, and on the road to recovery. Watching all this unfold were two Calvinists when one turned to the other and said, “Wow… did you see how that man just saved himself?”

Are we lost and now found, or just simply added? Who are God's Children?
Article

Something interesting that I have noticed in scripture is that we are often referenced as being lost sheep, lost coins, gone astray, etc...

What I have realized with this wording is that for something to have gone astray or be lost, it means that it is no longer where it was intended. If the elect were always intended for glory and the reprobates were always intended for destruction. Then are we all lost? Would the non-elect be precisely where they are intended?

A love worth Having
Article

Outline

Humans have this inherent desire for real love from those around us. Not a robotic spouse, puppy, or child.

It isn’t that far off to a point where we could have these things in a mechanical form in our lives and we might also have an app that controls it. Every one of us knows the love we would feel from such a thing is but a shell of what true love is.

As John Lenox has once said: It can be argued that a world with love can only exist when hate is an option.
